Baseball has been surpassed by Football as America's past time. With all the steroid scandals, and performance enhancing drugs that permeated the sport, which served to pervert all kinds of stats, it's no surprise. Besides that, the game has gone away from it's "small ball" roots, leaving traditionalists longing for the larger ballparks that made the game more of a chess match. The fundamental aspects that have been "muscled out" by the more homerun friendly parks and the games newer and simpler checkers-esque appeal. Oh, well, football's only seven months away.
